Riccione reflects on history: Miro Gori and Pivato open the ‘Novecento in riva al mare’ series

The cultural programme in Riccione began with screenings from the Istituto Luce archive, highlighting how newsreels of the Fascist era shaped representations of seaside tourism and urban change. The initiative brings historians and authors to the city for public talks and commemorative events.

Key events in the programme (23–26 April 2026)

  • 23 April – Opening at Villa Mussolini with archival projections and an introduction by Gianfranco Miro Gori and Stefano Pivato.
  • 24 April, 3:30 PM – Historical walk in Montegridolfo on “The Gothic Line. Guided visit to places of memory” (meeting at the Museum of the Gothic Line); free entry, info and reservations: [email protected].
  • 24 April, 9:00 PM – Talk at the Palazzo del Turismo: “Which stories, how many stories” with Alessandra Bitumi, Michele Marchi, Stefano Pivato and Gigi Riva.
  • 25 April – Liberation Day ceremonies with a civic procession, wreath-laying and a public event in the Garden of the Ceccarini Nursery School; civic speech by Gad Lerner and contributions on memory and the Resistance.
  • 25 April, 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM – Talks at the Palazzo del Turismo on eighty years of women’s history in Italy and women’s role in the Republic.
  • 26 April – Author press review by Ezio Mauro at Blue Bar Caffè.

The series combines archival screenings, guided memory walks, and public conversations aimed at reconnecting local history with civic memory. Most events are free; participants are advised to check practical details with organisers.
