Regional plan for the Amatrice quake area: €288 million to regenerate territory and communities

The Lazio Region presented a socio-economic development plan for the 2016 quake-affected area: a total investment of €288 million, with €100 million already activated. The initiative aims to boost recovery through actions on tourism, local agri-food chains and the cultural and educational system.

• Tourism: strengthening trails and cycling routes to enhance local outdoor and cultural tourism.
• Agri-food: establishment of the Alto Lazio biodistrict to support circular economy and local supply chains.
• Culture & education: reinforcement of Rieti's university system; Casa Italia allocated €15 million for upgrading the former Rieti civil hospital.

The Region indicated that work on Amatrice's hospital should finish by summer, with reopening expected between late summer and autumn. President Francesco Rocca emphasized the need for clear dialogue with local communities to align expectations and deliver concrete results.
