Pordenone 2027 takes shape already in 2026

During 2026, initiatives preparing Pordenone to be the Italian Capital of Culture 2027 are becoming concrete. Official materials report 52 projects in the candidature dossier, with 22 already started or in implementation and 42 new initiatives funded through a public call.

The programme involves 45 municipalities and over 130 organisations, aiming to make culture a lasting infrastructure across the territory.

  • Regeneration of spaces: reopening of Villa Cattaneo with the exhibition "Miles Davis 100 – Listen to this" and the plan for a Future Musical Hub.
  • Exhibition venues: establishment of Die Gelbe Wand, focused on contemporary photography.
  • Widespread events: TU27, open-air theatre in Piazza della Motta; Montagna Teatro Festival; immersive shows and city-stage formats.
  • Residencies and thematic projects: "Geografie Interiori", "Vajont: raccontare il futuro", "Pasolini tutto è poesia", "Europa della Poesia".
  • Inclusion and participation: programmes such as "La Cultura che Cura" in hospitals and "Mi Discovers" for people with autism; the "Deep Tech for Future" summer school for young women aged 16–23.
  • Goal: to leave a cultural and infrastructural legacy beyond 2027.

Local authorities emphasize this is a multi-year process: effects are already visible in 2026 and further interventions are being financed. The initiative connects arts, communities and territories to strengthen the cultural offer in western Friuli.
