Cammino ’44 launched: from Sant’Anna to Monte Sole

The inaugural edition of Cammino ’44 will start on 20 June 2026 in Pietrasanta and conclude on 1 July 2026 at Monte Sole. The route covers about 180 kilometres across mountains, villages and historical landscapes that mark key events of the 20th century in Italy.

Organised by Liberation Route Italia in cooperation with the Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna regions, the trail aims to combine cultural remembrance with slow tourism and is included in the Liberation Route Europe network.

• Duration: roughly 12 days, with the option to join single stages.
• Route: starts in Pietrasanta (opening ceremony in Piazza Duomo) and passes through Sant’Anna di Stazzema, Camaiore, Fiano, Borgo a Mozzano, Bagni di Lucca, Vico Pancellorum, the Pistoia Apennines, then into Emilia-Romagna via Porretta Terme, Riola, Grizzana Morandi to Monte Sole, Marzabotto and Vado.
• Stages: 13, with dedicated signage and stopover services.
• Guidance: local hiking guides will accompany walkers to ensure safety, interpret the territory and keep a sustainable pace.
