Varese Cultura 2030: a roadmap to network the province's cultural assets

A coordinated initiative, backed by Fondazione Cariplo and led by the Province of Varese, seeks to turn the local cultural offer into an integrated ecosystem. The plan aims to overcome fragmentation among actors and build a unified strategy for territorial promotion.

Main priorities announced:

• Shared strategic plan for the province's cultural policy;
• Digital mapping platform of local heritage, to be operational by December 2026;
• Enhancement of cultural hubs and strengthening of Santa Caterina del Sasso as a gateway to the area;
• Integrated routes combining landscape, environment and sustainable mobility, including a pilot shuttle bus service for Lake Maggiore cultural sites;
• Governance programme with thematic tables (communication, accessibility, capacity building, economic and environmental sustainability, links with tourism and mobility).

Participants stressed the need for a single coordinating body to avoid overlaps and to craft a shared narrative for the territory. The programme includes training activities with the University of Insubria and events for networking among cultural operators.

Upcoming meetings: an online session on 18 May focusing on sustainability; on 25 May a meeting will present local organisations and foster networking.
