Vignola, a small town in the Modena area, becomes a scenic destination each spring when the orchards of cherry trees flower. The fields surrounding the historic center turn into broad white ribbons, ideal for walking, photography and cycling.
Follow the Via dei Ciliegi to enter the flowering landscape: it largely overlaps the Percorso Natura along the Panaro river and connects Vignola to Marano sul Panaro. The route is mostly flat and family-friendly.
The town center features the medieval Rocca with its promenade and Palazzo Barozzi, renowned for the helical staircase designed by Vignola. Lesser-known sights include the Giardino Pensile Galvani, open at certain times.
The agricultural tradition is reflected in local products like the ciliegia moretta IGP and balsamic vinegar. Spring brings seasonal events focused on blooming and harvests, with stalls, tastings and cultural activities spread across the town.
Vignola also works well as a base to explore the province of Modena: in a short drive you can reach art cities, vineyards and specialist museums, making the village visit part of a broader itinerary.
