Botanical walks at the Valley of the Temples, Eraclea Minoa and Casa Pirandello

The Valley of the Temples archaeological and landscape park presents a program of nature-focused activities and heritage visits: free-entry events in late April and early May 2026, including guided excursions, sensory paths and studies of spontaneous and medicinal plants.

Main dates: April 24 – May 3, 2026. Key scheduled events take place on April 25 and May 3, with additional underground tours and guided visits starting April 24.

• April 25, 2026
  • 10:30 – Excursion to Eraclea Minoa: coastal exploration and insights on the use of medicinal plants in antiquity.
  • 16:00 – Botanical loop walk in the Valley of the Temples: departure from Villa Aurea garden toward the Temple of Concordia, via the Giambertoni Necropolis, returning to Villa Aurea.
• May 3, 2026
  • 10:30 – Sensory route from the Temple of Concordia to the Valley's sensory garden, activities designed to engage all five senses.
  • 16:00 – From the Pietro Griffo Archaeological Museum to Cardo I: survey and cataloguing of flowers and plants around the Hellenistic Quarter.
  • 16:00 – Casa Pirandello: a walk through the history and landscape that inspired the playwright, with attention to biographical ties to the territory.

Guided visits and underground routes

• Daily visit (except Monday) "Valle senza segreti" at 15:30: route from the Temple of Juno to the Temple of Concordia and the early Christian catacombs.
• Underground routes: Friday April 24 at 10:30 and 11:45; from Saturday April 25 at 10:15, 11:30 and 12:45. Tours led by CoopCulture archaeologists.

Tickets and services: the park can be visited independently with an audio guide or by purchasing the AgrigentoCulturePass, which includes the Pietro Griffo Archaeological Museum and other city sites. The Villa Aurea hosts a collection of works by Fausto Pirandello; the former Chiaramontane factories continue to show the photo exhibition Insulae Aqua.

Practical tips: wear comfortable shoes, bring water and arrive 10–15 minutes before guided activities. Some paths are on uneven ground. FlorAvventura workshops are aimed at children and families.
