La Spezia welcomes the Column of Freedom for the 81st Liberation Anniversary

For the 81st Anniversary of Italy's Liberation, La Spezia will host the Column of Freedom, a historical reenactment featuring more than 120 historic military vehicles from World War II. The initiative aims to preserve historical memory and engage younger generations with the values of the Resistance and democracy.

The program was presented at the City Hall with local authorities in attendance. The convoy is expected to arrive in the afternoon of April 25, pass through the city center and remain on display in the evening so visitors can closely view the vehicles and crews.

Route and schedule

  • Expected arrival: around 16:00 from the highway interchange and Viale Carducci.

    • Viale Carducci
    • Piazza Dante (after crossing Viale Italia)
    • Via Veneto
    • Piazza Verdi
    • Via Chiodo
  • Display: vehicles will remain on Via Chiodo until approximately 22:00, offering opportunities for public viewing.

Purpose and organizers

The Column of Freedom is a non-profit historical reenactment designed to keep collective memory alive. The event brings together associations and museums specialized in the period to ensure an accurate and respectful presentation.

The inclusion of the Column of Freedom in the April 25 commemorations offers a meaningful historical testimony and a shared reflection on the foundational values of the Republic. Traffic and display areas will be managed and escorted by the local police to ensure safety and orderly conduct.
