The new SDA Bocconi gallery in Rome debuts with a solo exhibition by Sidival Fila, a Brazilian artist and Franciscan friar based in Italy since 1985. The exhibition focuses on liturgical fabrics and ecclesiastical objects, which the artist reworks to give them a renewed narrative and material presence.
Fila alters sacred artifacts through stitching, cutting and reshaping, producing works that balance immanence and transcendence. Notable pieces include the Branches series (e.g. ST 04, 2021) and the Metafora Avorio compositions, such as Metafora Avorio 15 (2025), characterized by open seams and treated surfaces that encourage contemplative viewing.
Location: Villa Morgagni, the new SDA Bocconi venue in Rome. The exhibition opened on 18 April 2026. The installation highlights the physicality of materials and offers a contemplative route aimed at audiences interested in contemporary art and the transformation of ritual codes.
