The Entomological Museum "In the Kingdom of Butterflies" in Schio presents a carefully curated exhibition focusing on Italian lepidoptera. The collection features more than 10,000 daytime butterflies, systematically catalogued by species, subspecies, sex and biological form, housed in climate- and light-controlled cases to preserve colors and structures.
The display design aims for an immersive visit: over 300 large-format photographs recreate natural habitats — from Alpine areas to the Apennines, glaciers to coastal zones — and motion-activated lighting reduces light exposure while creating a theatrical atmosphere for visitors.
The museum route consists of 48 stations organized into five main thematic tracks:
Operated as a non-profit, the museum emphasizes education and outreach: it explains international species protection rules and offers materials designed to engage visitors of all ages in scientific observation and habitat preservation.
