The Verano Monumental Cemetery in Rome becomes an open-air museum with free guided tours and bicycle routes that highlight artworks, monuments and the graves of key figures in Italian history and culture. Routes cover historical, literary and artistic themes suitable for varied interests.

  • Period: from May 9 to June 2, 2026.
  • Offer: 43 free guided tours, each lasting about 2 hours.
  • General hours: tours run between 9:30 and 15:00 on weekends during the period and on June 2.
  • New in 2026: guided bicycle routes inside the Verano grounds (around 80 hectares).
  • Experiences: selected tours include immersive audio with music pieces, readings and recorded testimonies.
  • Booking: required while places last.

  • CicloVerano – Bike tour: May 9, 10, 30 and 31, 2026 at 11:30. A route exploring architectural styles and the cemetery's urban history.
  • Rome and the Great War: May 10, 2026 at 10:30. From Garibaldi to Ungaretti, passing the Military Shrine.
  • 100 years of radio and 70 years of TV in Italy: May 17, 2026 at 9:30; May 23, 2026 at 12:00. A walk among radio and television personalities.
  • Other routes: tributes to Elsa Morante, musical and cinematic themes, stories of women from the Roman Republic to the modern Republic, art-focused tours and accessible routes with LIS interpretation.

Tours are aimed at visitors interested in monumental heritage and Roman history. Expect approximately two-hour durations; some paths include unpaved sections so wear comfortable shoes. Booking is mandatory and visits are subject to seat availability.
