MUSE – Museum of Science of Trento presents Ronald Ventura: Luna, an official collateral event of the 61st Venice International Art Exhibition. Curated by Ruel Caasi and organized with Castel Belasi – Centre for Contemporary Art for Ecological Thought, the project combines artistic practice and scientific inquiry to address environmental changes in the Anthropocene.
Ventura, a leading Southeast Asian artist, focuses on the fragility of aquatic ecosystems by connecting the Venetian lagoon with the fishing community of Malabon. The Moon is the central motif, serving both as a scientific reference for tides and a symbolic device linking local realities to global environmental issues.
The exhibition, staged in the historic Docks Cucchini, features more than a dozen new works — paintings, video and sculptures crafted in resin and Murano glass. The site-specific installation examines cultural sedimentation, historical implications and eco-social impacts, highlighting water’s dual role as sustainer and threat to life.
The MUSE–Castel Belasi partnership is designed to merge scientific research and artistic experimentation: MUSE provides climate analysis and outreach, while Castel Belasi facilitates critical artistic reflection.
Visitor information: the Docks Cucchini setting underscores the site's maritime heritage and frames a route focused on landscape, memory and symbolic representation.
