On Sunday 24 May ADSI Liguria marks the 16th National Day of Historic Houses. The event opens a selection of private residences — palaces, villas and abbeys — free to the public to reveal their history, architecture and local stories.
The 2026 theme, "Guardians of the future. A living heritage for shared value", highlights the shared responsibility for protecting and passing on private historic-architectural assets. The openings are a chance to visit sites often off the main tourist routes and to appreciate their cultural and social value.
Visits are organised with the support of ADSI members and usually include free guided tours of interiors, gardens and historical highlights. Check the association's website or contact the venues for updated schedules and any booking requirements.
Practical tips: arrive early, check for possible mandatory bookings and follow on-site guidance from custodians. The day is ideal for lovers of architecture, local history and monument-focused guided visits.
