Baroque Days: The Charm of 17th–18th Century Art across Bologna’s Territory

During May 2026 the first edition of Baroque Days takes place across the metropolitan area of Bologna. The festival highlights museum collections and historic sites between Medicina and the surrounding towns through music, exhibitions and heritage events.

Main highlights

• 2–3 May 2026 — Santa Maria della Salute Church, Medicina: special display of the silver monstrance by Angelo Gabriello Piò (1752) together with its terracotta model.
• 2 May 2026 — Auditorium Hall, Medicina: lecture "Itineraries of Bolognese Baroque sculpture: Angelo Gabriello Piò in Medicina" by Davide Lipari (free entry while seats last).
• 2 May 2026 — Church of the Crucifix, Medicina: concert by the Orchestra Barocca di Bologna featuring works by Elia Vannini and Antonio Vivaldi.
• 3 May 2026 — Town Hall and Church of the Crucifix, Medicina: CD launch of Elia Vannini’s music and a sacred music concert by Collegium Musicum Classense.
• 3 May 2026 — Pinacoteca civica "Domenico Inzaghi", Budrio: special openings and guided tours as part of Primaveranda (some free activities).
• 9 May 2026 — Museum of Sacred Art, San Giovanni in Persiceto: special openings and guided visits to altar paintings, reliquaries and Baroque liturgical furnishings.
• 9 May 2026 — Museo Civico d’Arte Industriale & Galleria Davia Bargellini, Bologna: guided visit to the exhibition "Franceschini segreto. Un modello rivelato" (exhibition open until 20 September 2026).

Participating locations

The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Medicina together with the cultural association "I Portici di Medicina" and involves the municipalities of Medicina, Bologna, Budrio, Pieve di Cento and San Giovanni in Persiceto. Events are staged in museums, churches and historic venues, sometimes showing works not usually on public display.
