Cortona On The Move 2026: a photography festival across the town

From 16 July to 1 November 2026 Cortona stages the 16th edition of Cortona On The Move, an international photography festival that spreads over the historic centre with more than thirty exhibitions and site-specific works.

What to see

  • Monographic exhibitions showcasing Italian and international photographers.
  • Thematic shows exploring visual languages and contemporary issues.
  • Site-specific installations integrated into the urban fabric.
  • Talks, meetings and workshops linked to the exhibitions (check access rules and fees).

Practical tips for visitors

  • Wear comfortable shoes: the route includes cobbled streets, stairways and slopes typical of the historic centre.
  • Check opening hours: venues may have different schedules, consult the official program before you go.
  • Reservations: special events or workshops may require registration or a ticket.
  • Plan your route: exhibitions are spread out and will take time to reach on foot.

How to get there

Cortona is reachable by car and via regional train and bus connections from major towns in Tuscany and Umbria. Allow extra time for parking and walking within the historic centre.
