European Night of Museums 2026 at Sapienza

On Saturday 23 May 2026 Sapienza University of Rome turns its campus into a large cultural hub: 17 museums open simultaneously offering temporary exhibitions, guided tours, scientific seminars, children's workshops and evening performances. Admission is free.

Highlights

  • Museum of Etruscan and Italic Antiquities: opening of the exhibition "Etruscan Blue, Etruscan Gold" at 18:00 and an evening concert-performance blending archaeological narration and sound experimentation.
  • Museum of Classical Art: concert by the MuSa Blues ensemble in the Odeion Hall (evening program from 20:00) and the exhibition "Absent Calm. Peace and War in Ancient Greece".
  • Museum-Laboratory of Contemporary Art (MLAC): first Italian retrospective dedicated to Alì Assaf with a curator-led tour and a documentary screening.
  • Museum of Medical History: interactive exhibition "Algorithms on the Ward. From the Scalpel to Machine Learning" featuring installations and practical demonstrations.
  • Physics Museum: themed route "Paths of Peace" about scientists' roles in international disarmament.

Family activities

Museums focused on children and natural sciences offer treasure hunts, educational workshops, casts and reproductions, herbarium construction and hands-on activities. Participating locations include: Museum of Origins, Zoology Museum, Herbarium Museum, MUST – University Museum of Earth Sciences and the Anthropology Museum "Giuseppe Sergi".

  • Hours: afternoon opening from 15:00; evening events and concerts from 20:00; closing at 24:00.
  • Admission: free. Access via the campus entrances at Piazzale Aldo Moro 5 and Viale dell'Università 38.
