Vincenzo Scolamiero: With Some Part of the Earth
Where: Mattatoio Testaccio, Padiglione 9/A, Rome
Reference period: catalogue presented on 13 May; exhibition open to the public until 17 May 2026.
What to see
This solo show by Vincenzo Scolamiero condenses fifteen years of his painting research: over thirty works including canvases, panels, works on paper and artists' books that trace the artist’s development between abstraction and figurative hints. The exhibited paintings emphasize the concept of void as a constructive element and highlight a practice nourished by poetry and music.
Presentation and critical contributions
The exhibition catalogue was presented in the afternoon of 13 May 2026. The event was introduced by Ivana Della Portella and moderated by art historian Francesca Bottari, who contributed critical texts. Curator Maria Vittoria Pinotti and the artist spoke, and readings by Fabio Pizzicannella accompanied the discussion.
Why visit
- A chronological and thematic route documenting the artist’s development from 1987 to the present.
- Varied materials and techniques: pigments, oils, inks and acrylics demonstrating shifts in gesture and luminous glazes.
- Visual reflections on time, impermanence and the relationship with poetic texts (titles and references to poets and musicians are integral to the installation).
Catalogue and publications
The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue published by De Luca Editori d'Arte with essays by Francesca Bottari and Maria Vittoria Pinotti.
