Borghi dei Tesori Fest: program highlights in Gangi, Geraci Siculo, Montelepre and Petralia Soprana

On the weekend of 16–17 May 2026 the Borghi dei Tesori Fest continues with the second of three weekends celebrating Sicily’s small historic towns. Four towns in the Province of Palermo open churches, palaces, museums and artisan workshops for guided tours, thematic routes and hands-on workshops.

Practical info: opening times vary by site—check the official program. Ticketing options include a coupon for 10 visits (€18), a coupon for 4 visits (€10) and single-entry tickets (€3). Official website: leviedeitesori.com.

What to see and do

  • Gangi: visit small jewel museums such as Palazzo Bongiorno and Palazzo Sgadari, admire Giuseppe Salerno’s works including the Giudizio Universale and the Spasimo di Sicilia, explore the historic crypt known as the "fossa di parrina" and discover traditional instrument makers.
  • Geraci Siculo: stroll through flowered alleys and historic convents (Capuchin fathers and Augustinian fathers) with cloisters, cells and an intact oil mill; enjoy the dramatic viewpoint at Salto dei Ventimiglia.
  • Montelepre: participate in a sweet-making workshop on the local "pasta all’antica" pastry, visit the Torre Ventimiglia and the Mother Church with its storied crucifix.
  • Petralia Soprana: discover local memories preserved in the Frate Umile library, with photographs and documents that tell the village’s history.

Why attend

The festival is animated by local youth who guide visitors through traditions, craftsmanship and history. It’s an opportunity to access sites not always open to the public and to take part in practical workshops that celebrate local knowledge.

Tips for visitors

  • Check exact opening hours and meeting points on the official website before traveling.
  • Buy a coupon if you plan multiple visits—cost-effective for groups or multi-site itineraries.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for cobbled streets and uphill alleys.
  • Carry water and plan travel time between towns—some routes run through hilly terrain.

Event dates: 2026-05-16 to 2026-05-17. Consult the program online for full schedules and additional activities.
