Ettore Scola at Palazzo Braschi: "Non ci siamo mai lasciati"

When: from May 2 to September 13, 2026
Where: Museo di Roma, Palazzo Braschi, Rome

The Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi presents a dedicated exhibition on Ettore Scola, offering an in-depth portrait of the director through previously unseen materials and archival testimonies. The show commemorates Scola ten years after his passing and is designed for a broad audience, with particular attention to younger visitors.

Highlights

  • Photographs and production images documenting key stages of Scola's career.
  • Manuscripts, original screenplays and personal notes revealing his creative process.
  • Satirical cartoons, scenic sketches and drawings reflecting his graphic and ironic sensibility.
  • Iconic objects on display: director's chairs, the typewriter used by Scola and a famous trench coat linked to notable film sets.
  • Audiovisual materials from public and private archives (Rai Teche, Archivio Luce, Cinecittà collections, etc.).

Exhibition layout

The exhibition is structured in three thematic sections that trace different facets of Scola's work: his formative years and entry into satirical journalism; his creative path as a writer and director; and his relationship with Rome and the social changes of the twentieth century.

Curators and organizers

The show is curated by Silvia Scola and Alessandro Nicosia and promoted by Rome City Council – Department of Culture and the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage. The exhibition is organized by C.O.R. Creare Organizzare Realizzare with support from Zètema Progetto Cultura. A catalog by Silvana Editoriale accompanies the exhibition with images and critical essays.
