The Press Offices of the Basilicata Regional Government and Regional Council announced the suspension of press releases and multimedia activities during the election campaign for local elections scheduled on 24 and 25 May 2026, with a possible runoff on 7 and 8 June 2026. The restriction specifically applies to press releases, video reports, podcasts, interviews and social posts related to the 16 municipalities up for vote.
For the cultural sector, this decision has practical implications: institutional promotion of events — such as exhibitions, festivals, book launches or museum initiatives — may be limited if issued by regional offices during the specified period. Official regional notices will still be identifiable when they carry the acronyms AGR (Regional Government Agency) and ACR (Regional Council Agency), while content provided under contracts with external news agencies will remain attributed to those sources.

Practical advice for cultural operators and organizers:
The par condicio measure aims to ensure fairness in information during the election campaign; for the cultural sector, careful planning can reduce impacts on visibility and audience engagement.
