Cerignola emphasizes community culture in security plan

The Security Commission met on 19 April 2026, convened by President Michele Romano. Attendees included councilors Giuseppe Lavigna and Nicola Netti, Safety Councillor Teresa Cicolella, representatives of trade associations and local business operators.

Participants expressed concern about a rise in minor criminal incidents affecting the town's sense of safety. The meeting produced proposals combining public-order measures with social and cultural engagement.

• Monothematic municipal council on security to bring local needs to relevant authorities and improve coordination with the Prefecture.
• Integrated approach: alongside calls for stronger policing, the emphasis is on cultural initiatives, urban regeneration and the active involvement of businesses to strengthen social cohesion and prevention.

President Romano described the meeting as "a fundamental listening moment," stressing the need for broad, non-partisan cooperation to protect residents and economic activities. The Commission outlined a plan to start the process for the proposed Council and to increase engagement with the Prefecture for coordinated action.
