Aquinum becomes an Archeotech laboratory

Wednesday 22 April 2026 the Monacato di Villa Eucheria in Castrocielo hosted the Archeotech Matching Showcase, an event focused on experimenting with technologies applied to the Aquinum archaeological site. The initiative is part of the Terre di Aquinum enhancement project and aims to turn scientific activities into concrete local opportunities.

The event featured demonstrations of solutions for research, conservation and public engagement:

• Drones for aerial surveys and high-resolution mapping;
• Non-invasive methods (geophysics and remote sensing) for subsurface investigations;
• 3D models and digital reconstructions for documentation and preservation;
• Immersive solutions (virtual and augmented reality) to enhance visitor experience and accessibility.

Participants included technology and cultural companies, universities, foundations and local government representatives. The format combined practical demonstrations, demand-supply matching sessions and round tables to outline pilot projects to be implemented on site.

The stated goals are to enhance the heritage with replicable solutions, improve experiential visits for tourists and schools, generate employment opportunities and establish Aquinum as a sustainable model integrating research, technology and cultural heritage.
