Alba, Capital of Art 2027: Cattelan Curates Opening Exhibition and Debuts 'Visions of the Body'

Alba launches its road to 2027 with an event that brings together dance and contemporary art. On Monday 23 March 2026, the Fondazione Ferrero and the Municipality of Alba will stage Visions of the Body, a performance devised by the Centro Coreografico Nazionale/Aterballetto that uses the body to interpret the provocative visual language of Maurizio Cattelan.

The evening blends critical commentary on artworks with choreography that converts irony, paradox and visual tension into physical gesture. Alongside the choreographer and performers, a curator-presenter leads the audience through Cattelan’s artistic themes, examining several representative works.

Concurrently, Cattelan has been appointed curator of the opening exhibition for the Alba Capital of Contemporary Art 2027 program, dedicated to Pinot Gallizio, an important 20th-century painter from the area.

This performance is the opening chapter of a Public Program designed to engage the city in an ongoing conversation about contemporary art through public events, educational activities and exhibition projects culminating in 2027.
