The Fiera del Crocifisso Ritrovato brings centuries of tradition back to life in Salerno’s old town: four days of reenactments, street theatre, artisan markets and family-oriented workshops that celebrate the local heritage of the borgo.

What to expect

• Historical parades with costumed participants and flag-wavers winding through the main streets.
• Evening shows: fire performances, acrobats, jesters and medieval music in atmospheric squares.
• Falconry demonstrations showcasing birds of prey.
• Artisan markets and crafts villages with demonstrations of traditional trades.
• Workshops and activities for children including educational games and themed walks.

Key programme highlights

• Thursday 30 April 2026: historical parade at 17:30 and official opening in Piazza Portanova at 18:15; evening shows in Piazza Pomona and Piazza Sant’Agostino.
• Friday 1 May 2026: itinerant performances and entertainment from 16:30 between Piazza Sant’Agostino and Piazza Pomona.
• Saturday 2 May 2026: falconry, acrobats and a fire show in Piazza Portanova.
• Sunday 3 May 2026: historical parade from Piazza Alfano I and a grand finale with a fire performance.

Family activities and guided routes

Expect hands-on workshops, historical games, craft demonstrations and themed guided walks. Notable events include the children’s Salerno walks on 2 and 3 May and routes focused on medieval Salerno, its legends and landmarks. The fair will extend for the first time to the Parco del Mercatello, offering dedicated activities and archery.

Practical information

The event is spread across multiple locations, so exploring on foot is recommended. Salerno is easily reachable by train from Naples; once in town, the historic centre is best visited on foot to follow the scattered programme.
