A comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Mark Rothko is on display at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, featuring more than 70 works spanning his career: from figurative pieces of the 1930s–40s to the iconic abstract color fields of the 1950s–60s. The show, curated by Christopher Rothko and Elena Geuna, includes loans from leading international collections.
The display follows a chronological route: early works influenced by Surrealism and Expressionism lead to transitional Multiforms and culminate in the signature color field paintings. Several works are exhibited in Italy for the first time, offering a rare overview of Rothko's evolution.
