FUORI SEDE: 4th edition in Rome

From 14 May to 31 July 2026, FUORI SEDE returns to Rome — the Festival of Foreign Academies and Cultural Institutes — curated by Francesca Barbi Marinetti and promoted by the Rome Capital Department of Culture and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.

The program takes place mainly at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni and at various partner venues across the city. The festival aims to highlight the dialogue between international academic communities and Rome’s cultural fabric through residency and research programmes and a public-facing schedule.

  • Events include: open studios, exhibitions, talks, concerts and film screenings.
  • Admission: free while places last, with reservation options where indicated.
  • Full programme and updates are published on the Palazzo delle Esposizioni website.

Participating institutions include a wide range of international academies and cultural institutes active in Rome — for example Villa Medici (Accademia di Francia), the American Academy in Rome, Bibliotheca Hertziana, the Goethe-Institut Rome, the Polish Institute, the Swiss Institute and others. The festival showcases residencies and projects involving artists, curators, scholars and researchers from multiple countries.

FUORI SEDE offers an opportunity to explore international artistic trajectories that engage with the city, turning academies and institutes into open spaces for cultural production and experimentation.
