5 Seconds Of Summer are back in Italy

5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) are finally back with their new world tour, Everyone’s a Star!, and will perform on April 28th in Milan at the Unipol Forum in Assago. This concert marks the only Italian date of a tour celebrating their latest recording project, seeing the Australian band return to the stage after a nearly three-year hiatus since their previous tour. The show will be the perfect opportunity to hear live tracks from the new album Everyone’s a Star!, for which the tour is named. Naturally, the setlist will also include the band's biggest hits that fans are most attached to, such as Amnesia, Ghost Of You, Bad Omens, and She Looks So Perfect.

5SOS are a true phenomenon of musical evolution. Formed in Sydney in 2011 as teenagers uploading covers to YouTube, they have transformed into pop-punk icons. Remarkably, the band's lineup has remained intact despite various solo projects from individual members. Luke Hemmings (guitar/vocals), considered the band’s frontman, has explored a solo career in recent years; the same applies to Michael Clifford (guitar/vocals), the rock and punk soul of the group who handles technical production; Calum Hood (bass/vocals) possesses a unique and recognizable vocal timbre and has also released solo singles; and Ashton Irwin (drums/vocals) is the group's rock drummer and was the first to launch a parallel solo project.

The career of 5SOS has always been on the rise, but the turning point was their collaboration with One Direction, marking one of the most iconic chapters in modern pop history. In 2012, Louis Tomlinson stumbled upon one of their videos and shared it on Twitter, announcing he was a fan. Shortly after, Niall Horan also began supporting them, leading to 5SOS becoming 1D’s opening act.

The band opened for One Direction on two monumental tours, living every emerging band's dream: Take Me Home Tour (2013): Their global debut. They opened shows in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Almost overnight, they went from playing small clubs in Sydney to performing for over 20,000 people a night. Where We Are Tour (2014): Their definitive leap into stadiums across Europe and North America. During this tour, songs like She Looks So Perfect and Amnesia became global hits, with stadium crowds screaming the lyrics before One Direction even took the stage.

The relationship between the two bands wasn't just professional, but a genuine friendship. Opening for 1D gave 5SOS direct access to the world's most powerful fanbase: the Directioners. This allowed them to build their own empire on a solid foundation while maintaining the rock and punk identity that set them apart from traditional pop groups. Even today, many fans at their concerts are veterans who discovered them during those 2013 and 2014 shows.

Following the 1D era, 5SOS were ready for headlining tours. Between 2018 and 2020, with the album Youngblood, they climbed global charts by adopting a more electronic and sophisticated sound, a direction confirmed by the album CALM. Their latest album is considered their most ambitious project yet, blending early rock energy with the vulnerability gained from their solo endeavors. Songs like NOT OK and Boyband offer an ironic and mature reflection on their history and fame.

This 2026 tour also serves as a celebration of their 15-year career. Before arriving in Milan, the tour visited several European cities, including London and Berlin. After Italy, they will move on to Madrid and Lisbon, followed by an extensive run of North American dates throughout the summer.
