Vincenzo Scolamiero — With Some Part of the Earth

On Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 PM the exhibition by Vincenzo Scolamiero opens at Pavilion 9a, Mattatoio of Rome, curated by art historian Maria Vittoria Pinotti. The show brings together over thirty works — paintings, panels, paper works and artists’ books — spanning roughly fifteen years of the artist’s practice.

The presentation highlights Scolamiero’s interest in the intersection of poetry, music and the traces of everyday life. Technically experimental, his practice mixes pigments, oils, inks and acrylics with gestures that modulate fluid marks, soft glazes and luminous transitions between abstraction and figuration.

Curatorial notes

The works on display reveal varied outcomes of Scolamiero’s method: broad, slowly built color fields alternate with more hybrid, dynamic forms. Painting becomes a space of reflective practice where materiality and gesture converse with poetic and philosophical concerns.

The exhibition is promoted by the Rome Capital Department of Culture, Azienda Speciale Palaexpo and Fondazione Mattatoio di Roma — Città delle Arti, with the patronage of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and AICA.
