Monumenti Aperti 2026: dates and purpose

From 18 April to 8 November 2026 the thirtieth edition of Monumenti Aperti takes place, offering public access to monuments, historic palaces and monumental sites across Italy. The event connects local communities, volunteers and schools to promote the cultural and social value of heritage through free openings and guided tours led by volunteer guides.

Routes, scale and areas involved

The initiative includes more than 800 sites across 18 regions, with hundreds of openings in over 100 communities. The program runs from spring to autumn: key openings and focuses include Cagliari (opening in April and a Sardinia focus), Quiliano (Liguria), Pinerolo (Piedmont), Benevento (Campania), Aymavilles (Aosta Valley), Palermo (Sicily) and Perugia (June). In autumn, planned openings include Gravellona Toce, Bellinzago Novarese, Turin, Ferrara, Latronico, Syracuse, Trieste, Cosenza, Montefano, Rome, Treviso, Venice, Milan, Chieti, Bitonto and Campi Bisenzio.

Activities and special programs

  • Culture without Barriers: dedicated routes and services to improve accessibility, involving people with disabilities and a mapping of site accessibility levels.
  • Monuments in Music & Performance: musical and theatrical events that enrich visits and involve schools and local groups.
  • Family and children’s programs: educational routes and activities designed to introduce young audiences to heritage.
  • Free guided tours led by trained volunteers and students participating in local projects.

Why attend

Monumenti Aperti combines conservation with participation: it is an opportunity to discover lesser-known places, learn local history and engage in community cultural life. Openings turn heritage into a tool for active citizenship, education and inclusion.

Practical information

  • Check specific dates and opening times for each site: some events are concentrated in themed weekends or single days.
  • Admission: many visits are free; check individual pages for possible mandatory reservations.
  • App and social channels: download the Monumenti Aperti app and follow the national account @monumentiaperti on Facebook and Instagram for updates and local maps.
  • Official website: consult the up-to-date calendar at www.monumentiaperti.com.

Attending Monumenti Aperti supports knowledge and preservation of heritage: a collective route that transforms visits into shared experiences.
