From 18 April to 8 November 2026 the thirtieth edition of Monumenti Aperti takes place, offering public access to monuments, historic palaces and monumental sites across Italy. The event connects local communities, volunteers and schools to promote the cultural and social value of heritage through free openings and guided tours led by volunteer guides.
The initiative includes more than 800 sites across 18 regions, with hundreds of openings in over 100 communities. The program runs from spring to autumn: key openings and focuses include Cagliari (opening in April and a Sardinia focus), Quiliano (Liguria), Pinerolo (Piedmont), Benevento (Campania), Aymavilles (Aosta Valley), Palermo (Sicily) and Perugia (June). In autumn, planned openings include Gravellona Toce, Bellinzago Novarese, Turin, Ferrara, Latronico, Syracuse, Trieste, Cosenza, Montefano, Rome, Treviso, Venice, Milan, Chieti, Bitonto and Campi Bisenzio.
Monumenti Aperti combines conservation with participation: it is an opportunity to discover lesser-known places, learn local history and engage in community cultural life. Openings turn heritage into a tool for active citizenship, education and inclusion.
Attending Monumenti Aperti supports knowledge and preservation of heritage: a collective route that transforms visits into shared experiences.
