From 28 March to 27 September 2026 the Antiquarium Comunale of Centuripe hosts the exhibition "Sicily: One Island, Many Sicilies", showcasing more than thirty years of photographic research by Armando Rotoletti. The project investigates memory, cultural heritage and social change across Sicily through predominantly black-and-white images that emphasize layered readings of the landscape.
The exhibition offers a selective but dense portrait of Sicily: multiple communities, rituals, everyday gestures and the material traces that shape regional identities. Photography is presented as a method of inquiry that links documentation to interpretation.
Armando Rotoletti (born Messina, 1958) is a photographer and photojournalist. He began his career in the 1980s in London and moved to Milan in 1990. His long-term projects focus on the social and cultural fabric of southern Italy, especially Sicily, combining documentary rigour with interpretive depth.
The exhibition offers a chance to engage with Sicily through images that bridge historical perspective and contemporary concerns, valuable for photography enthusiasts, cultural heritage professionals and anyone interested in regional identity and social change.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by Silvana Editoriale, featuring a selection of works and critical essays.
