This exhibition maps the evolution of Sardinian ceramics during the twentieth century, from everyday utilitarian objects to artistic and experimental pieces. The display highlights the shift from local, functional production to innovative techniques and artistic dialogues with the national and international scene.

The route begins with popular ceramics linked to household and ritual life and follows the century’s renewals through works by central figures such as Francesco Ciusa, Ciriaco Piras, Salvatore Fancello, Federico Melis and Melkiorre Melis. It also features important contributors like Saverio Farci, Eugenio Tavolara, Maria Lai, Costantino Nivola and Pinuccio Sciola.

A section contrasts Sardinian production with national ceramic practices, while the contemporary segment showcases artists like Rossana Rossi, Michele Ciacciofera, Antonello Cuccu and Caterina Lai, demonstrating the living continuity of the tradition.

The exhibition includes a video by the duo NARENTE, commissioned by CRAFT - Sardegna Ricerche, and an installation design by architect Giovanni Filindeu. After the display in Venice, the works will return to the Museo della Ceramica di Nuoro.
