Valtournenche and the Matterhorn: the iconic mountain of the Alps

Autore: Redazione 31/08/2025 10:57

Valtournenche is a place that captivates anyone who arrives, situated in the heart of the Aosta Valley and dominated by one of the most iconic mountains in the world, the Matterhorn (Monte Cervino).

The "Gran Becca" (Great Peak), with its perfect pyramidal shape, is an absolute symbol of the Alps. Walking through its valley, Valtournenche, means immersing yourself in breathtaking landscapes, with stone and wood houses contained within the villages, and larch forests and flowery pastures.

Traditions have been handed down here for centuries, and in every corner, you breathe a heritage that unites nature and culture. While the Matterhorn dominates every view, Valtournenche is more than just this.

In winter, Valtournenche and the nearby Breuil-Cervinia are a paradise for skiers. The trekking trails and via ferratas, on the other hand, lead hikers to discover unspoiled places, such as some alpine lakes. The ski slopes extend all the way to the Swiss glacier of Zermatt.

Lake Maën and Lake Goillet are just two of the many gems in the area, perfect for relaxing and cooling off in the summer. Valdostan cuisine can add an irresistible touch to the experience.

Valtournenche is a unique place. Visiting it means experiencing a close encounter between the symbol of the Alps, the Matterhorn, and the authentic soul of the Aosta Valley.
