Valley of the Temples: free entry with botanical walks and underground

Free entry at the Valley of the Temples and Eraclea Minoa: April 25 and May 3

Free admission for two days at the Valley of the Temples archaeological and landscape park: events focused on nature and history, including botanical walks, family workshops and underground routes that reveal early Christian life.

Main program

• April 25 – 10:30: excursion to Eraclea Minoa to explore the coastal area and the use of medicinal plants in antiquity; 16:00: circular botanical walk from Villa Aurea to the Temple of Concordia, passing the Giambertoni necropolis.
• May 3 – Morning: final walk of the "Flora in cammino" series; "FlorAvventura" workshop for children and families. 10:30: visit to the Sensory Garden; 16:00: route from the Pietro Griffo Archaeological Museum to Cardo I to identify and catalog local flowers and plants; at the same time, an appointment at Pirandello's birthplace for the historical walk.

Guided visits and underground routes

For deeper site exploration there are guided visits and special underground routes:

• Daily guided visit "Valle senza segreti" at 15:30: from the Temple of Juno to the Temple of Concordia, exploring the breadth of ancient Akragas up to the paleochristian catacombs.
• Underground routes: Friday April 24 at 10:30 and 11:45; from Saturday April 25 at 10:15, 11:30 and 12:45. An archaeologist leads visitors through arcosolia and other burial types.

Exhibitions, services and tickets

Audio guides are available for independent visits and tickets or guided tours can be purchased at www.coopculture.it. The AgrigentoCulturePass is offered as a combined ticket to visit the Pietro Griffo Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral of San Gerlando, the Diocesan Museum and the Church of Santa Maria dei Greci.

The Villa Aurea hosts the exhibition "Fausto Pirandello. The magic of the everyday"; the photographic exhibition "Insulae Aqua" is on display at the former Chiaramontane Workshops (check opening days and hours, some exhibitions may be closed on Mondays).

• Booking is recommended for guided tours and underground routes as spaces may be limited.
