A national cultural project links seven UNESCO-recognised Lombard monuments into a digital itinerary, producing online content designed to make history engaging and accessible—especially for younger audiences.
The initiative seeks to highlight Lombard "places of power" (568–774 CE) through short-form social content—reels, stories and videos—that combine historical accuracy with contemporary language to create digital "narrative stations".
Each stop is assigned to creators and heritage communicators experienced in making historical material both accurate and approachable for a wide audience.
The project is part of a Ministry of Culture programme (EF2023) under Law 77, aimed at promoting the serial site "The Lombards in Italy. Places of Power (568–774 CE)". Official materials and deeper resources are available on the project portal.
Follow the creators' social channels and look for the project tags to access dedicated videos and storytelling. For in-person visits, check individual monument websites for opening hours, ticketing and guided tours. The stops span several regions and offer varied historical and landscape contexts.
Why it’s worth visiting: the digital Grand Tour provides a modern perspective to understand the Lombards' historical significance in Italy and helps make UNESCO sites more accessible to new generations.
