Val Veny: the secret valley at the foot of Mont Blanc

Autore: Redazione 31/08/2025 13:57

Val Veny is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Aosta Valley, situated at the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif. Less frequented than the more famous Val Ferret, this valley offers a less crowded environment and is less invaded by mass tourism.

It is also located just after Courmayeur, and from there, a path of woods and meadows unfolds, with the valley running parallel to Mont Blanc. This offers a spectacular view at the base of the mountain, on the highest mountain range in Europe.

In summer, hikers visit this valley for walks along the Dora di Veny river, where every step offers unique views, while the most ardent trekking enthusiasts can follow the Alta Via N2 or the Tour du Mont Blanc, one of the most famous itineraries that also passes through Val Ferret.

A symbol of spirituality, one of the most famous in Northern Italy, is also found here: the Sanctuary of Notre Dame de la Guérison (Our Lady of Healing), nestled among the rocks, which is a destination for pilgrims from all over the world.

In winter, however, this place transforms into a white paradise. There are many ski slopes, connected to the Courmayeur resort, which also offer spectacular views of the glaciers. But for those not seeking this kind of frenzy, there are also ideal spaces for relaxing walks.

Val Veny is a place that unites alpine grandeur and natural intimacy, just a stone's throw from Mont Blanc.
