The University for the Third Age (UTE) of L'Aquila continues its educational program with a lecture titled “Raphael and L'Aquila through G. B. Branconio”, scheduled for Wednesday 29 April at 4:00 PM in the hypogeal hall of Palazzo dell’Emiciclo. The speaker will be Professor Giuseppe D’Annunzio, who will explore the relationship between the Renaissance master and the L'Aquila context.
The bond between Raphael and L'Aquila is mediated by Giovanni Battista Branconio, a member of a historic local family and a patron of works such as the Visitation, now housed in the Museo del Prado. The talk will address artistic, architectural and patronage connections between the city and the papal court.
The event is part of a calendar that involved more than three hundred participants during May and included educational and cultural initiatives. A recent visit to Calascio featured the mayor Paolo Baldi and a presentation by Elena Baistrocchi, director of the Fondazione Lisio, on a training project that combines textile tradition, innovation and sustainability.
The program confirms UTE's commitment to promoting history, culture and local craftsmanship through territory-based initiatives and public outreach.
