UNICEF Italy has launched the fifth edition of the DIRITTI IN COMUNE campaign, promoted with the patronage of ANCI, calling on all Italian municipalities to strengthen the protection of children's and adolescents' rights at local level.
The initiative coincides with the 35th anniversary of Italy's ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which falls on 27 May, and aims to place municipalities at the heart of promoting and implementing children's rights.
Nicola Graziano, President of UNICEF Italy, stated that «municipalities, as proximate institutions, play a decisive role in ensuring that all the rights of children and adolescents are respected». The campaign encourages local authorities to adopt concrete measures to listen to and respond to children's needs.
UNICEF and ANCI will provide materials and technical support to facilitate municipal participation and the implementation of projects aligned with the UN Convention.
