Emilia-Romagna backs culture, sport and tech to tackle educational poverty

The Regional Government has approved a second tranche of European funds totaling €727,790 to support 20 municipalities in Emilia-Romagna, aimed at combating educational poverty and promoting the integration of young migrants. Salsomaggiore Terme and Langhirano will receive €58,288 and €75,195, respectively.

These resources are part of the FSE+ 2021-2027 regional programme (Priority 3, Social Inclusion) and add to an earlier allocation of €455,420, bringing the regional investment to nearly €1.2 million for local initiatives.

  • Types of projects: artistic workshops (theatre, dance, music, photography), AI and digital skills programmes, language support and educational field trips.
  • Social actions: sports activities as inclusion tools, study support, linguistic and cultural mediation, and tailored paths for students with special educational needs.
  • Implementation: street education, out-of-school and summer activities, intergenerational exchange and family involvement.
  • Target: municipalities with 10,000–25,000 inhabitants and at least 17% foreign youth aged 3–18.
  • Timing: projects must start immediately and be completed within the 2026–2027 school year.

The initiative aims to make municipal spaces—schools, gyms, libraries and labs—centres for community building, participation and inclusive youth development.
