The Book's Shape, the World's Shape: curator-led visit for the University of the Third Age

Date & time: Wednesday 15 April, guided tour starts at 10:30. Free admission.

The Galleria del Ridotto in Cesena presents the exhibition The Book's Shape, the World's Shape, an itinerary exploring the relationship between art and publishing. Opened on 21 March and curated by Maurizio Cecchetti of Edizioni Medusa, the exhibition will be visited under his guidance by members of the University of the Third Age.

The show pairs wall-mounted artworks with more than a hundred artists' books displayed centrally in a section titled The Unfaithful Bride. Central display tables use cardboard structures designed by Vittorio Presepi to present the volumes.

  • Curator: Maurizio Cecchetti (Edizioni Medusa).
  • Venue: Galleria del Ridotto, Cesena.
  • Admission: free; guided tour led by the curator.
  • Focus: intersection of typographic quality, graphic research and literary value; handcrafted books printed on manual presses.

The exhibition features editor-artists and local contributions including Giorgio Bertelli, Luciano Ragozzino, Alberto Casiraghi and works linked to Cesena by Giampiero Guerri. It also includes collaborations between poets and artists such as Stefano Simoncelli, Monica Guerra, Giancarlo Sissa, Mariangela Gualtieri and others.

This exhibition offers an insight into artisanal editorial practices and the development of Medusa, a press and gallery born in Cesena that has maintained strong ties to its territory. Participants in the guided visit will receive an overview of the exhibition stages and the book-production processes explained by the curator.
