Borderland/Orizzonti: twenty years of contemporary art in Friuli Venezia Giulia

On 15 April 2026 at 18:00, at the Casa della Musica in Cervignano del Friuli, the Circolo Arci Cervignano APS launches the 20th edition of the Borderland/Orizzonti festival, curated by Eva Comuzzi and Orietta Masin. The opening features a public discussion connecting photographic practice and live performance with artists Nicola Fornoni and Claudia Amatruda.

During the opening an open call will be announced for visual artists resident in Italy to take part in a summer residency in the Gorizia area. Participation is free; deadline for the call: 3 May 2026. The launch event is free to attend and will include visual and video materials.

Main program highlights

• 15 April 2026 – opening and public talk “Sensitive Matter – the body as interference” with Fornoni and Amatruda (Casa della Musica, Cervignano).
• 7–14 June 2026 – residency for selected artists in San Mauro (Gorizia), culminating in a presentation.
• 14–21 June 2026 – second phase featuring an invited Austrian artist to promote international exchange.
• May–June 2026 – exhibition “Confine di carta” at the Antico Ospedale dei Battuti in San Vito al Tagliamento.
• Late summer 2026 – exhibition in Grado showcasing residency outcomes and selected recent works by participating artists.
• Autumn 2026 – final events in Cervignano with performances, music and meetings to celebrate the festival’s twentieth anniversary.

Founded in 2004 and originally conceived in Cervignano del Friuli, the independent project has expanded regionally and internationally, fostering connections between artists and local communities. Funded by the Region, the initiative is carried out in partnership with the municipalities of Cervignano del Friuli, Grado and San Vito al Tagliamento and local cultural associations.

• Open call: for visual artists resident in Italy; deadline 3 May 2026; free to apply; final presentation at the former Cinema Cristallo in Grado.
• Residencies: 7–14 June 2026 and 14–21 June 2026 (international phase).
