River tourism in Veneto: two-day programme on April 18–19

Veneto places rivers and waterways at the forefront with the second edition of the Regional River Tourism Day, taking place on April 18 and 19. The initiative, promoted by the Region and carried out with Unpli Veneto and local operators, offers a widespread programme aimed at residents and visitors.

The event is part of Regional Law 5/2024 and the 2025–2027 tourism strategy, focusing on a slow and sustainable tourism model that highlights landscapes, local identity and environmentally respectful practices.

Programme highlights

  • 78 initiatives across all Veneto provinces;
  • boat excursions and short cruises along main waterways;
  • guided walks and bike rides on riverbanks and fluvial paths;
  • sport activities for various levels and family-friendly workshops;
  • special openings of museums and guided visits related to river history.

Many activities require prior reservation. Naturalist guides and experts will lead participants through the river ecosystem, offering educational workshops for children.

Why it matters: river tourism offers an opportunity to diversify the region's tourism offer, support local economies through sustainable use of resources, and strengthen the bond between communities and their environment. The initiative aims to promote authentic experiences that combine nature, culture and landscape knowledge.
