Tuscany: Puccini's Classic Sails return to Torre del Lago for Turandot

Tuscany: Le Vele Classiche di Puccini at Torre del Lago (25-26 April 2026)

On 25–26 April 2026 the Circolo Velico Torre del Lago Puccini, in collaboration with the Italian Sailing Federation, opens the classic boat season with the third edition of Le Vele Classiche di Puccini. The event takes place on Lake Massaciuccoli, in the area that inspired composer Giacomo Puccini.

The meeting combines historic sailing, sport and music: the programme includes two non-competitive races, guided visits and a series of free collateral events organised together with the Parco della Musica.

• Who/what: wooden dinghies, fixed-keel boats (max draft 1.5 m), lateen-rigged hulls, cabin boats, period replicas and fiberglass vessels built before 1980

The 2026 edition marks the centenary of the premiere of Turandot, first performed on 25 April 1926 at La Scala under Arturo Toscanini. The regatta also offers the public the chance to explore the lake’s roughly 10 km perimeter and discover the area's nautical and cultural heritage.
