Sustainable Flags 2026: three Calabrian municipalities recognized

The fourth national Assembly of the Network of Sustainable Municipalities, held in Rome, awarded the Sustainable Flags 2026 to 92 Italian territories. Among them are three Calabrian municipalities: Cirò Marina (KR), Melissa (KR) and Parghelia (VV), honored for their monitoring practices and environmental policies.

• The award recognizes municipalities that produced a sustainability report in the past year, a key tool to assess results and goals aligned with the 2030 Agenda.
• Parghelia received the recognition for the second consecutive year, as noted by Deputy Mayor Tommaso Belvedere.
• The assembly emphasized the central role of local administrations in the ecological transition under the principle "global goals, local actions."
• Highlights included the launch of a national under-36 coordination and the adoption of digital tools to measure municipal environmental performance.

The increase in Sustainable Flags from 68 to 92 compared with the previous year reflects a spreading local commitment to more sustainable development models, with the South playing an increasingly important part.
