Genoa museum network grows: 19% rise in Easter holiday visits

Positive outcome for Genoa's museum system: between 4 and 6 April 2026 the city's museums welcomed 4,624 visitors, marking a 19% increase compared with the Easter period in 2025.

• Lighthouse Museum (Museo della Lanterna): 836 visitors
• Liguria Archaeological Museum: 660 visitors
• Castello D'Albertis - Museum of World Cultures: 583 visitors
• E. Chiossone Museum of Oriental Art: 312 visitors
• GAM - Modern Art Gallery: 222 visitors
• Frugone Collections Museum: 188 visitors
• Sant'Agostino Museum: 127 visitors
• MEI - National Museum of Italian Emigration: 125 visitors

Notably, the exhibition "Il futuro di ieri" was extended until Easter Monday to meet high public demand and reached 7,820 visitors. Culture councillor Giacomo Montanari attributed the success to coordinated management and the museums' ability to work as an integrated narrative system.

The upward trend reinforces Genoa's role as a leading cultural destination and highlights opportunities to develop coordinated exhibitions, visitor services and initiatives that keep the city's historical layers active and accessible.
