Tor Vergata in Tivoli: new bachelor in Sustainable Tourism

The University of Rome Tor Vergata unveiled a three-year degree in Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage valorization, to be hosted at the Museo della Città (Palazzo Macera) with activities also at the Scuderie Estensi.

The programme places teaching directly in the contexts where tourism operates, aiming to immerse students in the practical effects of tourism policies and practices. It is part of the Tourism Sciences curriculum and combines economic, legal and managerial skills with operational and design-oriented tools.

  • Mode: blended delivery (on-site and online) to ensure access to territorial activities;
  • Training goal: prepare professionals able to manage, interpret and add value to cultural heritage sustainably;
  • Territorial lab: Tivoli, with Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa, will serve as a permanent laboratory for applied research and teaching;
  • Partnership: collaboration between the university, local administrations and regional bodies to support sustainable development of cultural sites.

The presentation involved academic and institutional representatives; the programme is designed to connect students with real-world heritage management processes while creating value for the local community.
