Tindari pays tribute to Sebastiano Tusa

On the occasion of the Sicilian Cultural Heritage Day, the Tindari Archaeological Park is opening its sites free of charge to the public. Scheduled for March 10, the initiative targets residents, families and students and aims to promote the local archaeological heritage through direct experiences among excavations, mosaics and guided routes.

Activities and highlights

  • Free admission to all areas of the Archaeological Park for the day.
  • Tindari Antiquarium: exhibition of coins and numismatic finds donated by local collectors.
  • Patti Marina Roman Villa: open restoration sessions on the floor mosaic depicting Dionysus, with insights into conservation techniques.
  • Tusa archaeological area: the Hellenistic-Roman theatre excavation site will be accessible to observe fieldwork and documentation activities.
  • Themed guided tours across Milazzo, Tindari, Patti and Capo d’Orlando, focusing on mosaic techniques and maintenance/restoration demonstrations.

The day offers a chance to learn about research, protection and promotion practices applied to the archaeological sites along the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina. Visitors can view artifacts, watch practical demonstrations and engage with professionals working in excavations and conservation labs.
