Termoli and Macchiagodena together for Italian Book Capital 2027

The coastal town of Termoli and the mountain village of Macchiagodena in Molise have submitted a joint application for Italian Book Capital 2027. The project was presented at a press conference by the mayors and the team behind the dossier.

The two administrations describe the bid as a "single voice for Molise," positioning books as a tool for resilience and cultural promotion. The proposal builds on a path started in 2019, when Termoli joined the "Cities that Read" network and the Reading Pact, and envisions activities targeting children, young people, families and the elderly.

Local officials highlighted the support of the Molise Region and the intent to use the candidacy to address structural challenges while attracting diverse audiences. The mayor of Termoli also announced the city's bid to be named Italian Capital of the Sea, signalling a broader plan to valorise multiple aspects of the territory.
