Spiaggia del Principe: a corner of paradise on the Costa Smeralda

Autore: Redazione 28/08/2025 09:00

Spiaggia del Principe (Prince's Beach) is one of the most precious gems on the northeastern coast of Sardinia. It is located in the Costa Smeralda, near Arzachena. It manages to captivate visitors with its turquoise sea, pristine beach, very fine sand, and pink rocks.

Be aware that in the middle of August it will be extremely crowded, but the beauty of the location will compensate for the situation. This bay was greatly loved by Prince Aga Khan, hence the name, and is a natural masterpiece. As mentioned, the sea is crystalline, intensely turquoise, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The waters are shallow and rich in life, and exploring with a mask will give you the feeling of being in a natural aquarium.

The bay is also surrounded by rocks and greenery, which protect the beach from the winds. It has a crescent shape, and the juniper vegetation creates an ideal atmosphere for photographs. The beach is perfect for relaxing in the sun or in the natural shade of the rocks, if you move closer to the cliffs.

There are also some issues regarding the beach. The first is the path to get there. The trail is absolutely not accessible to people with disabilities or those who have difficulty moving. There are some rather steep and uneven sections, and there is a risk of slipping; therefore, it is advisable to wear comfortable gear for the journey and not carry too much baggage.

Furthermore, the crowding, especially on August days, is very noticeable. Another problem not to be underestimated is the presence of wasps that will attack most people when they try to eat under their umbrella. We're not talking about one or two wasps, but true armies. This can cause discomfort, although it is a problem that affects much of Sardinia.

There is also a kiosk, toward the end of the beach near the rocks, where you can buy whatever you want, from food to cool drinks. Visiting Spiaggia del Principe is still an experience worth having, and we recommend everyone try it for its purest natural setting.
