Sassari marks Sa Die: 230th anniversary

On 28 April 2026 Sassari devotes a day to historical memory and its monumental sites for the 230th anniversary of Giovanni Maria Angioy's entrance into the city. Part of the Primavere Sarde – Sa Die de sa Sardigna program, the initiative includes official ceremonies, guided tours and cultural events across the historic centre.

Day schedule

• 10:00 – Commemorative ceremony at Largo Don Leonardo Carboni (Via Quarto) with wreath-laying at the monument to the revolutionaries and institutional and musical speeches.
• 12:00 – First guided visit to the Sala Sciuti at the Palazzo della Provincia, organized by FAI.
• 16:00 – Second guided visit to the Sala Sciuti (FAI).
• 16:30 – Historical conference in Sala Angioy: "1796-2026. Ttari tzitade rivolutzionaria" featuring historians and essayists.
• 19:00 – Start of the itinerant performance "Memorie de sa sarda rivolutzione: Angioy entra in città" from Piazza d'Italia, passing through historic arcades and squares.
• Evening – Closing concert at Sa Domo de Totus (Via Frigaglia 14b).

Guided tours and monumental sites

The guided tours of Sala Sciuti in the Palazzo della Provincia, curated by FAI, provide in-depth insights into the collections and the building's role as a monumental institutional seat. The historical route and evening performance aim to enhance the visibility of arcades, squares and other historic structures in the city centre.

Education and civic engagement

School projects and workshops engaged local high school students in recounting the story of the Sardinian revolution and Angioy's role, strengthening the connection between the monument heritage and the community.
