The MediCinema Italia screening room at the Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli in Rome hosted the screening of Il Bene Comune, introduced by director and actor Rocco Papaleo alongside actor Andrea Fuorto. The event emphasized cinema's role as a tool for wellbeing and connection.
MediCinema Italia, a non-profit active since 2013, is one of the Italian organizations promoting cinema therapy as a complement to medical care: the Gemelli screening room, opened in 2016, has hosted hundreds of screenings and opportunities for dialogue between filmmakers and patients.
The screening of Il Bene Comune was followed by a conversation with the audience, which included participants from associations working with vulnerable groups and social recovery. The event highlighted how cinematic storytelling can foster sharing, listening and processes of resilience.
Distributed by PiperFilm and featuring performances by Vanessa Scalera, Claudia Pandolfi and Teresa Saponangelo, the film served as an occasion for dialogue: the post-screening discussion encouraged questions and exchanges between artists and viewers, many engaged in care and reintegration pathways.
Initiatives promoted by MediCinema Italia reaffirm culture's role in improving quality of life within healthcare settings and in creating meeting spaces between cultural professionals and vulnerable communities.
